Dal Mago is a small restaurant located in Morro D’Alba, in the province of Ancona. A renowned restaurant offering typical dishes of the Marche region, revisited and adapted to our times. The management is familiar and has reached the third generation.
This work was commissioned at the beginning of 2017, just before the renovation works that would radically change its appearance.
I have never seen the place, except during an inspection a few days before the photo shoot: I fell in love because I immediately breathed the story through the many objects hanging on the walls: paintings, objects of use, stuffed animals, photos which showed moments of life lived within the restaurant and the affection of customers.
The colors and the objects made me think of some works by William Egglestone and Stephen Shore, to whom I freely inspired.

Dal Mago è un piccolo ristorante sito a Morro D’Alba, in provincia di Ancona. Una rinomata trattoria in cui si offrono i piatti tipici della cucina marchigiana, rivisitati e adattati ai nostri tempi. La conduzione è familiare ed è arrivata alla terza generazione.
Questo lavoro nasce su commissione agli inizi del 2017, poco prima dei lavori di ristrutturazione che ne cambieranno radicalmente l’aspetto.
Non avevo mai visto il locale, se non durante un sopralluogo pochi giorni prima del servizio fotografico: me ne sono innamorato perché subito ne ho respirato la storia attraverso i tanti oggetti appesi alle pareti: quadri, oggetti d’uso, animali imbalsamati, fotografie che mostravano momenti di vita vissuta all’interno della trattoria e l’affezione della clientela.
I colori e gli oggetti mi hanno fatto pensare ad alcuni lavori di William Egglestone e Stephen Shore, ai quali mi sono liberamente ispirato.
